With the number of Vietnamese American attorneys
and law students increasing steadily, VABANC is starting a
Mentorship Program to help in the professional development of law
students and new attorneys.
The Mentorship Program aims to provide law
students, newly admitted attorneys, junior attorneys or attorneys
considering or beginning a new area of practice the support and guidance
of other Vietnamese American attorneys. By fostering these mentor-mentee
relationships, VABANC hopes to develop and strengthen the network of
Vietnamese American legal professionals in California.
A mentor can provide advice about course work,
career decisions, interview and resume tips, and other information about
law school and the practice of law. A mentor should be available to
answer questions by phone or email. We encourage mentors and mentees to
meet informally. VABANC will host a Mentor-Mentee reception in January
2006 to provide another opportunity for participants to meet in person.
If you are interested in being a mentor or a
mentee, please complete the
Mentorship
Program Information Sheet and email it to Candice Nguyen Hamant at
candice_nguyen2000@yahoo.com no later than November 31, 2005.
